imageThere are very few breeds of dog are as popular as Chihuahua in the United States. Though these dogs are found in United States, France, and other part of the world, their origin is Mexico. One of the most important cause of their popularity is that it is very easy to carry around them. There are special kinds of handbags to accomplish this task, and a very common view of Chihuahuas is keeking out of the handbags of their master.
History
It is supposed that Chihuahua is the only local dog race of north America and it’s primogenitors belongs to Mexico. Archaeologists found some dog sculptures from Mexico which resembled Chihuahuas and early in the 5th century A.D. During 1100 A.D., the local folk of Mexico – the rule of the Toltecs was begun on the central and southern parts of the country. By the 13th century, Aztecs (Nahua-speaking people) conquered the Toltecs. Interestingly, both the Toltecs and the Aztecs owned heavy-boned, long-haired dogs of small stature. The dogs are kept not only as a pet but also for their religious conducts. The dog with a boscage was called Techichi.
There are a number of gossips about the origin of Chihuahuas. There is a story that the Toltecs and the Aztecs may have crossed Techichi with a mountainous dog of Chihuahua named Perro Chihuahueno. A gossip about Perro Chihuahueno is that it had a round head, long nails, and short, erect ears. Chihuahua was the product of the cross. Another story is related to the invasion of the Aztec empire by the Spanish invaders during the 16th century. It is said that the Spanish’s brought miniature Chinese dogs with them. Chihuahua was the result of the cross of Techichi with the Chinese breed.
If we look back in past history of 1850, we have found that the class of the old wrecks near Casas Grandes, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Day to day those dogs are getting popular around of states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico and other near cities .Overall , this class of dog are very popular in USA. The American Kennel Club helped to crossbreeds of Chihuahua dogs after recognition them in 1904.
Physical Features
These dogs lo like very small-sized which makes them unique. The height of those breed dogs are between six to nine inches and their around one to six pounds. Those have dark big round eyes. They have huge straight ears, which look triangular-shaped. The legs of these dogs are heavily strong with faint feet and their tails are almost sickle shaped. This different types of Chihuahuas are separated with its body feature and look.
The fur of this type dog has two types long-haired and short-haired. The long-haired fur is nice and smooth. Those fur take two years long to develop. In contradiction of most popular belief, this type shed has less hair than the short hair ones. Most of this type of dogs has long furry tail, but the short-haired ones have straight tail. Chihuahua are different types of colors and with different color combination. The most common colors are noticed include fawn, red, cream, silver, white, chocolate, blue and black.
The two types of Chihuahuas are seen .One is “Apple headed “and other is “Deer headed”. Apple headed dogs have head which possess the shape of an apple, a short nose and close-set eyes, where the Deer headed dogs have longer nose than the apple headed .
Characteristics
These types of dogs are very trustworthy and devoted to their owners. They are very attention seekers like babying. They are smart among all kind of dogs and if they get well training and suitable training to manage their aggressive behavior then they can be the best type of dog in all sense. They can easily activated them and to use their teeth to attack. Keep children away from Chihuahua.
Health and Lifespan
Hypoglycemia is the main disease for them. Except these ear infections, eye infections, tooth loss, genetic diseases, epilepsy, seizure disorders and heart disease can be attacked them. For their small size, Chihuahuas are very closer to injuries, particularly bone injuries. They should keep away from cold. They cannot endure low temperatures. Due to the risk of hypoglycemia, which can result in shortening their lifespan? , they should not be stuffed .They are born with a soft spot on the forehead which would close by with age. If the molera does not fully close then it takes them to susceptible to injury or death. In this case, extra and special care must necessary. If it is done then the healthy Chihuahua can live for 10 to 17 years.
